George Miller's "Mad Max" is essentially a post-apocalyptic western filled with memorable images of desolate highways on fire with violence and anarchy. Despite a small budget, Miller was able to craft an exciting and visually stunning chase film.
Hugh Keays-Byrne is particularly frightening as "Toecutter".
