Review of Machine Gun Preacher (2011) by Thomas W — 29 Jun 2012
A great 'one mans struggle' story about Sam Childers mission in Africa fighting for the children caught up in Joseph Kony's atrocities. Butler works really well in the role, he has Childers anger, frustration and obsession nailed throughout and its great to see him in a serious role.
The lead in story is filled with cliches though and elements like Childers mother and past are almost entirely ignored, the film only hits its stride when the action moves to Africa. Highly recommended.
