Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Oscar A — 27 Nov 2013
When it comes to the Grindhouse films and the series of films it has spawned, it seems that at least for the Machete series the joke is officially done. A lot of the stunt casting that made the original films fun doesnt really inspire a lot of chuckles here, more slumming for a paycheck for lack of better work especially in the case of Mel Gibson.
A couple of good sight gags but they are few and far between and the tie in to make fun of the Star Wars esque Bond entry moonraker seems pretty lame with the pre credits Machete Kills Again.... In Space teaser and the lead in for that entry at the end of the picture.
Hate to say it but it seems as Rodriguez might have finally flushed his career down the tubes with this one unless he hits one out of the park with the next entry for Sin City which might eventually lead him back to the big leagues, but for now straight to the dust bin with this one.
