Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Richard S — 17 May 2014
Robert Rodriguez really doesn't inhibit himself when he makes films. Watching this, and several others, is like stepping inside the mind of a fourteen year old kid who has just discovered a box full of banned 70's videos.
I liken him to Edgar Wright who is the British version, if you like. Both just put on screen whatever comes into their minds and seem to want to make films for themselves rather than anyone else. Luckily for them, it's always good enteretainment.
The acting in this may not be the best but the jokes are good and the ridiculous fight scenes are pure fantasy gold. I have a question mark over casting Mel Gibson as the baddie but, other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
