Review of Machete (2010) by Heri C — 07 Sep 2012
Could've been so much better. There's too many characters in this film, most of them don't have a purpose. They're just there cos they're friends with Robert Rodriguez.
Just because you have an all star cast, doesn't mean it going to be any good. You need to have a reason why this actor is playing this character.
There some nice gory scenes, one involving Machete pulling a man's intestine out of his body and jumps out of the window using his intestine as a rope. Some nice fanservice involving Jessica Alba's shower scene, a topless Lindsay Lohan and a scene involving a naked woman in the first 5 minutes.
The special effects are terrible, poor CGI blood and greenscreen. Robert DeNiro just plays the same villain he does since...... well...... forever!
Michelle Rodriguez is yet again the same character but she looks great in that outfit she wears at the end.
It's nice to see Steven Segal playing a villain. I showed my dad this film cos he's a big Seagal fan. He hated it.
Overall, Machete could've been as fun as Rodriguez's other films, except for his kids films, ugh. But Machete doesn't have enough action for an action film.
It's just okay, the finale's nice. There's also a nod to Escape From New York when Machete is shown the weapons by Booth.
I wonder what Machete Kills will be like? My dad asked "Will it be bad as this one?".
