Review of Machete (2010) by Jacob F — 03 Sep 2013
An all brawn, no brains mexploitation action pastiche that's utterly convoluted, excessively violent, deep as a puddle, and completely lacking in sophistication or wit... and that's exactly what director Robert Rodriguez was going for.
This pulpy, hilarious and absurdly entertaining throwback to 1970's trash cinema benefits greatly from a relentless pace, some outrageously enjoyable set-pieces and an unapologetic, irresistible sense of fun.
