Review of MacGruber (2010) by Paul C — 06 Dec 2010
I had three reactions when watching this film. Laughing out loud, smirking and then yawning. Not a very good combination. If it was just the first two, it would of been better. The comedy in this film at some parts really had me laughing a lot, but then they tried to get serious at some points and it ruined it.
The cast was great to horrible. Will Forte is Macgruber and he was just hilarious. Kristen Wiig was his sidekick and she was just ok. Some parts she was pretty funny, but only a few. Ryan Phillippe was also part of the Macgruber team and I don't know why.
He played a serious character that really didn't have any funny parts and one disturbing part. Val Kilmer was the villain and he was horrible. He looked out of shape and sick. Back in his prime, when he was young, he was great at comedies, but that time is gone now.
The story line was pretty bad, but it was suppose to be that way since it was a spoof made up in Saturday Night Live. So they had to rely on the comedy, which worked sorta. For the most part, it was a better movie that was brought up by SNL, but not one of the best.
All I know is that Will Forte is a pretty funny guy and his character proved that, just wish the film and the rest of the cast was better.
