Review of Macbeth (2015) by Luke E — 07 Oct 2015
Justin Kurzel's take on 'The Scottish Play', is a nitty gritty dark ages inspired adaptation of Shakespeare with a very Braveheart, Game of Thrones or Vikings type of look and feel to it all.
Kurzel's stern direction makes the film a bold intention to capture the eerie and frightful essence of the play, even filmed out in the native Scottish Highlands makes up for a truly majestic and foreboding backdrop.
Add to that the mesmerizing musical score from the director's brother Jed, but at it's core the performances from it's truly magnificent cast who bring such ecstatic reign of raw emotion and eye catching impressions that its hard to look away from the entirety of it's run time.
Shakespeare fan or not? this is a grand adaptation of Shakespeare at it's best.
