Review of Macbeth (2015) by Byron B — 24 Aug 2016
I thought the marketing materials said this was released by Amazon Studios, but I cannot confirm that on IMDb's listing of company credits. At any rate, if you've seen the trailer for this Shakespeare adaptation you have an idea of the lush, beautiful visuals that this film has to offer.
Cinematographer Adam Arkapaw deserves much of the credit. Fassbender and Cotillard handle the text exceptionally well. The wyrd sisters/witches are treated in a unique way. There are some changes to Shakespeare's plot and who says some lines, but the changes are minor and do not feel like they drastically alter the intention of the story.
