Review of M (1931) by Matthew M — 20 Jun 2008
Utterly magnificent. The final ten minutes of this film are the reason that Peter Lorre should be remembered as one of the greatest actors of our time. His performance is stunning from start to finish.
Also, from a more novelty angle, it's really interesting to see Lang doing his first "talkie," since many of the scenes still use silent film conventions and techniques.
I've also always been a fan of "lost" film. I find it fascinating that 7 minutes of this film are simply gone forever (it was originally 117 minutes, and the best we've been able to do is restore it to 110).
Anyways, everyone must see this film. MUST!
