Review of M (1931) by Scott D — 31 Dec 2008
An undisputed masterpiece. Fritz Lang's direction is haunting, lyrical and incredibly effective. Peter Lorre's performance is iconic, and his speech near the film's end is an incredible cinematic moment.
The tense, taut storyline proposes some fascinating questions on the nature of right and wrong, the degree of guilt in the eyes of the law, and the point to which we should be asked to be responsible for our demons.
Stunning.
