Review of M (1931) by Jordan T — 01 Nov 2009
I saw this years ago and have forgotten how damn good it is. Peter Lorre is exceptional as the pedophile, who becomes repulsively sympathetic at the end. Most of the movie deals with how the cops and criminals both try to hunt down this monster, who evades both parties until the end.
And an ending, where the criminals of Germany put the man on a trial, and one lone figure stands up in his defense, is some of the most sublime 10 minutes of film ever.
