Review of M (1931) by Tyler H — 29 May 2010
One of the best made films I've ever seen in my entire life. This film embodies all the things I love about 1930's film making, including grainy black and white film and amazing use of lighting, coupled with overblown acting and awkward scenes.
Peter Lorre is an excellent choice in the lead, making excellent use of his googly eyes. The last ten minutes or so are truly intense, with a pan of a crowd shot that seems to last forever. I enjoyed a lot of the visuals in this.
However, why are old movies always so unintentionally funny? Must have been all the pointing and shouting.
