Not a bad movie, but one that plays it too close to expectations. The actors do a good job with the sort of deadpan melodrama of the film, and I bought into it...i just couldn't quite shake the feeling i'd seen it all before.
It feels like a pastiche of the indie family dysfunction genre (if you can call it that) where instead I wanted it to bring a little personailty of its own. Ice Storm + Thumbsucker with the Culkin element of Igby Goes Down = Lymelife.
