Review of Lust for Life (1956) by Charles S — 20 Feb 2011
Hard to say anything new, except that the intro given by one of the DIA curators explained that at one point (while Van Gogh is in Paris), the film shows him painting a floral arrangement, actually owned by the DIA (and on loan for the filming) -- now that painting is part of the 'Fakes and Forgeries' exhbit since the painting used is in question as an authentic Van Gogh.
Also, although Quinn (as Gaugin) is featured as second lead, James Donald as Theo really is wonderful -- and stars later as the British POW senior officer in 'The Great Escape'. A great afternoon -- before the new blizzard!
