Review of Lust, Caution (2007) by Toni S — 09 Dec 2008
A tense, well acted spy thriller this film was shocking not only because of the sometimes quite brutal and graphic sex scenes but because of the way Chinese women were treated! They were treated like pawns to be moved around in a game of espionage to get the required result. A fantastic performance from the lead actress who I hope to see more of...all though Iâ??m pretty sure I saw all of her in this movie.
What I liked so much about this movie was the forced repression seen in every character, weather it was denying your feelings for someone or which side you where on. Wei Tang was excellent, but I think the whole cast was well chosen and brilliant.
Ang Lee is a fabulous director and he has created a moving tale of anger, deception and deceit that people will remember long after they have seen it.
