Review of Lust, Caution (2007) by Ian F — 09 Jun 2013
For a follow-up to "Brokeback" and a lead-up to "Life of Pi" (because who counts "Woodstock") this is a really well done bur very uncharacteristic of Lee film. Ultra-violent but also highly sexual (almost violent, especially one scene) this film acts almost like a sidestep for Lee in his use of two things that while having a place, rarely feature so presently in one of his film (at least not graphically).
Visually and soundtrack wise (the music is haunting and beautiful as always) however, it remains Lee working as a technicolor noir it looks amazing and is a view and story we rarely see. But it is long, and it is heavy.
