Review of Ludwig (1973) by Alex B — 03 Feb 2009
Used, confused, disturbed: poor Ludwig comes across here as quite sympathetic. But not so as to prevent or discourage us from welcoming/cheering the end of monarchy/aristocracy. On the contrary, we see/feel the limits (to be overcome) of all the ruling powers/authorities of the age.
And therein lies (at least an aspect of) Visconti's brilliance/excellence.
