Review of Lucy (2014) by Josh J — 26 Apr 2015

It took me a long time (like, several months) to determine how I felt about this movie. It started with such an interesting (though scientifically ridiculous) premise and then just...dissolved into nothingness.

Lucy becomes less and less of a character as the film progresses and whatever conflict there was at the beginning of the movie just sort of fizzles into irrelevance by the time the movie ends. The movie tries to make itself seem deep and intellectual, but it really does n't say much about anything.

It's a hollow, shallow movie that did not really know what to do with itself after the first half. I will say that the directing is very good and that Scarlett Johansson is a great female action movie star.
