Review of Lucy (2014) by Robbie K — 30 Aug 2018
Blending action and philosophy is pretty hard to do, but Lucy, for the most part, succeeds at getting some interesting points across, all that with gun fights, and for a mainstream sci-fi movie, it's quite gory.
The production values are polished, and both Morgan Freeman and especially Scarlett Johansson give pretty good performances, with Choi Min-Sik from I Saw the Devil (2010) gives a good one too. But it's weird how a big budget flick like this one only has a pretty short runtime, and all that's philosophical science fiction bullshit does get overwhelming and overbearing after a while.
But overall, Lucy is a freaky and interesting sci-fi film. Recommended !!
