Review of Lucy (2014) by Dianne B — 16 Jan 2016
As a few others have said, this film is an interesting concept but poorly executed. Even casting Johansson and Freeman could not help the cause of this film. Thankfully the film is not long and it's hard to take seriously at times and it would have been harder to sit through had it been 120 minutes. The film itself has a funny pace to it. The start seems relatively short and the middle feels bloated. The end does indeed have a climax but it just feels a bit flat and a bit forced. Also there a few things in the film that simply don't make sense but I won't go into those right now.
This film in my opinion is a real missed opportunity. With better writing and more substance this could have been a great film. In a film where the topic is about maximising brain capacity I think the team making this film should have tried to practice that themselves. Such a shame as I was looking forward to this...
