Review of Lucy (2014) by Brian B — 29 Jun 2017
This movie is a knockoff from its far more superior predecessor Limitless. Scarlet Johansson gives no meteoric rise in this over used plot about tapping into the brain's total capacity. Johansson lacks the star flair she once had many moons ago that captured the crowd.
No way should this movie have been rated 67% by critics unless otherwise employing the use of Crystal Methamphetamine during their review. The impossible feats being done in Lucy are way too far for the viewers to fathom. However there was a decent performance put on by Choi Min-Sik as a ruthless crime lord named boss Jang. His performance was reminiscent of a Korean version of Gary Oldman in the movie The Professional. Heck, there are even scenes when he looked very much like Oldman in The Professional.
Still, Lucy failed to measure up to "Limitless" which was far more brilliant and palatable. Lucy's only saving grace was the brilliant performance put on by Oscar winner Morgan Freeman.
