¿Qué es "Lucy"? Una verdadera locura, eso es lo que es. Una historia llena de ideas descabelladas, y disfrazada como una propuesta de acción pura y simple. Pero por desgracia, la película comete el error (bastante frecuente) de intentar ser más de lo que en realidad es: un producto hecho para el entretenimiento del público, ni más, ni menos. En cambio, "Lucy" se esfuerza torpemente por ser algún tipo de análisis profundo acerca de la naturaleza humana y sus capacidades y limitaciones, algo que desde los primeros minutos se revela como totalmente innecesario. Después de todo: una película que mezcla acción bien directa con algunos toques locos de ciencia ficción, con Scarlett Johansson como protagonista y la increíble voz de Morgan Freeman apareciendo cada tanto para darle un plus al conjunto, y de yapa con uno de los creadores de "Búsqueda Implacable" (la primera fue genial, eh) dirigiendo el proyecto, ¿quién no querría ir al cine a ver eso?

Pero no, por alguna razón que no entiendo, "Lucy" intenta parecerse a películas como "El Origen", y hacer pensar a la audiencia, cuando en realidad lo que debería hacer es invitarla a apagar su cerebro de forma tal que no tenga problema en tragarse todas las locuras que suceden durante el transcurso de la cinta. Sin embargo, la película no es en sí terrible, más bien es terriblemente irregular. Se confunde a sí misma al mismo tiempo que nos confunde a aquellos que la estamos viendo. Por lo tanto, aunque el resultado final flaquea demasiado en su totalidad, estoy seguro de que algunos podrán encontrar en "Lucy" un producto arriesgado y tal vez incluso entretenido.

What is "Lucy"? A true madness, that's what it is. A story full of crazy ideas, and disguised as an outright action proposal. Unfortunately, the film makes the mistake (pretty frecuent) of trying to be more than it actually is: a product made for the entertainment of the audience, nothing more, nothing less. Instead, "Lucy" clumsily strives for being some kind of deep analysis about human nature and its capabilities and limitations, which from the first minutes is revealed as totally unnecessary. After all: a movie that mixes straightforward action with some crazy science fiction details here and there, with Scarlett Johansson as the protagonist and the incredible voice of Morgan Freeman appearing every so often to give a plus to the whole, and also with one of the creators of "Taken" (the first one was great, eh) directing the project, who wouldn't want to go to the theater to watch it?

But for some reason I don't understand, "Lucy" tries to be like movies like "Inception" and make the audience think, when in fact what it should do is invite it to turn off its brain in order to don't have any problems with swallowing all the crazy things that happen during the course of the movie. However, the film itself is not terrible, instead it is terribly uneven. It confuses itself at the same time that it confuses those who are watching it. Therefore, although the end result falters too much in its entirety, I'm sure some will find in "Lucy" a risky product and maybe even an entertaining one.
