Review of Lucky (2017) by Shannon B — 24 Nov 2017
If you are a cinemaphile, you will have nothing but raves about this movie, and friends so afflicted encouraged our viewing. As the director said in an interview, it started out as a set of vignettes, and that is how it remains.
It provides an opportunity for a series of actors to provide a series of soliloquies (some impressive, some not so much) on a range of disparate topics, but often related to thoughts on aging (but then there are also tortoises).
The daily plodding routines of an old man in a small town really is not much to build a story around, and this is the case, with lots of unanswered questions, non-sequiters, and huh??s. But as remarked above, I suspect many will find artistic charm, and others.
.. when will this be over?
