Review of Lower City (2005) by Private U — 05 Sep 2008
Set in Salvador, Bahia - a Brazilian city in the North, mostly African-inhabited yet built up and with lots of contrasts. I think this film has a pretty light storyline but gives a very real depiction of life there, especially good cinematography (and Alice Braga is incredibly hot, even playing a prostitute).
Worth seeing. It definitely gives a different view of the Carnaval party town...
