This is a great film because of how it was made. It was animated by hand, with artists painting in the style of van Gogh. It is fantastic! If you know anything about van Gogh's works, you will recognize the paintings made the basis for many of the scenes in bars or in the fields near Arles or Paris. It is a wonderful tribute to the inventor of Modern Art (the good kind!).
The actors also take great pains to pronounce "van Gogh" in proper Dutch fashion. I think you have to be Dutch to do it exactly right, but they get closer than I would.
