Review of Loving (2016) by Tim M — 26 Nov 2016
Writer and director Jeff Nichols makes an important film about the evolution of law and marriage. 'Loving' is a breakthrough performance from Joel Edgerton who plays Richard Loving. He underplays the character which comes off wonderfully.
The understated tones make this much different then Nichols' Midnight Special, released earlier this year. This works it's lovely. Ruth Negga, who plays the wife could be nominated come award season.
This isn't quite up to the standards of Mud, but it's up there as another solid addition to the Nichols stable. Final Score: 8.1.
