Review of Lovers of the Arctic Circle (1998) by Ish R — 01 May 2009
Although the underlying themes were a tad cheesy, this film is most compelling to watch. If you start watching it you'd be sucked in and forced to watch the ending. That to me is powerful storytelling to begin with.
The structure and narrative of the film may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but really does suit the film in terms of story of the two lovers and their perspectives. Some elements of the film are reminiscent of Kieslowski's Three Colours Blue and the overall look to the film is sumptuous. A story about love and coincidence.
