Review of Lover (1992) by Sylvie M — 08 Apr 2006
Very good adaptation of the book by Marguerite Duras, "The Lover", but also inspired by one of her other books, "The North China Lover". For the first time ever, I felt like the movie was better than the book.
The image is breathtaking, visually this movie is a real work of art. A beautiful story about a very non-platonic, forbidden love affair. Annaud is a true artist.
