Review of Lovely & Amazing (2002) by Lindsey A — 13 Aug 2009
I though this movie was excellent, a true sequence of womanly stories exploring physical insecurities and their emotional ramifications. The cast was absolutely perfect- each member really brought it in this one.
The viewer can sense the raw relationships between mother and daughter, between sisters, women, lovers, between husband and wife. Sometimes eerily truthful, even when it seems inappropriate. Example: Blethyn's character adopts a young girl when she has two daughters already in their thrities in order to retain the feeling of being needed and loved unconditionally as a mother.
Catherine Keener and Emily Mortimer both shine in their own ways. Lovely and amazing, and one more thing... "F*ck off!".
