Review of Lovelace (2013) by Maruf H — 22 Aug 2013
Attempting to make a heart-warming story about a porn star who decides to quit porn, as the film suggests, simply over being abused by her husband would probably have worked better for a star who didn't reportedly have sex with dogs for Hugh Hefner's pleasure.
A biopic should never skip over the facts, and omission of the truth is no different from a lie. It's great to see the film's Chuck Traynor get what he deserved, but perhaps it's my own respectable upbringing that makes me cold to a young girl who disobeys her parents and ends up in a life of porn and prostitution by an abusive husband.
Either way, Amanda Seyfried delivers a killer performance and delves so much into Ms. Lovelace, it's easy to forget it's Seyfried under the makeup.
