Great performances from a great cast, but as with a lot of movies that attempt to cover a long time period, it doesn't manage to go very deep (no pun intended). I would have liked to see a bit more triumph, ie her involvement with the anti pornography feminist movement was cut.
instead we just get a fairly extreme domestic abuse story which is quite graphic and distressing at times - probably cheaply so. The story is told creatively and effectively, but just could have had a little more meat (no pun intended).
