Review of Lovelace (2013) by Dan H — 04 May 2014
Amanda has got some lovely Seyfrieds that she actually shows off a good deal for a change. All joking aside though, Amanda Seyfried does a pretty good job in this tragic, dark, but hopeful story. Peter Sarsgaard is a great psycho as Linda's husband, Chuck, who forces her into the porn business and savagely beats her when she doesn't obey his every order.
Robert Patrick is fantastic in a supporting role as Linda's father (he had me choked up in one scene). The film is a fascinating and sad look at the nightmarish 17 days that Linda spent in the porn business (unfortunately the film doesn't really focus on much else).
It may not be a great film, but as a short, truthful look at a well known porn star it's fairly well done.
