Review of Love Story (2006) by Fred T — 15 Nov 2009
I watched 'Love Story' expecting to hate it, and was pleasantly surprised. Ryan O'Neal's woodenness seemed in keeping with his WASPish chaeacter, Ali MacGraw wasn't painfully annoying and Hiller's directing though not particularly inspired, evoked a strong emotional response and considerable empathy with his characters.
The script is pretty strong, and despite the negative criticism 'Love Story' delivers on its title. You will want to cry.
