Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Joey S — 18 Jun 2018
These kids judge Martin for who he is, always putting him down, I kind of enjoyed his revenge against Simon, on the other hand Simon was a laid back, charming character who you felt concerned for. Even though they intend to tell us how hard it is to come out as gay, everyone in the movie seems to embrace the fact with graciousness other than a couple goofballs at school. I'm a straight guy who enjoyed this film, I even got emotional during the dad and son scene by the garage outside, it was a heartwarming moment. They seem to quickly shrug off Simon's wrongdoing near the end, and you feel like he gets off pretty easy, but I like forgiveness, though it was a quick turnaround.
PROS : Loveable story, charming main character, mystery, friendships, some comedy, emotional, a satisfying end.
CONS: Martin's Character was downplayed and rejected to the point it was showing the main character's true colors.
