Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Leeham — 30 May 2018
Well-acted, this adaptation of the YA novel chooses mostly correct paths through its simple telling of Simon's story. Shedding no new light on the coming out narrative, it does, however, offer a freshness in the way it presents acceptance, particularly within the family unit.
Aiming for the centre, it judges its ripple effect well so as to embrace the majority of viewers without ostracisation and in doing so manages to not alienate or patronise the audience for whom the story connects the most.
