Love, Simon is not just a great "teen movie" but is just a great movie, no qualifications needed. The movie is very much made to appeal to the teen market particularly the way that technology is integrated into the story but the story itself is so sophisticated that I believe that anyone (and I do mean anyone) can enjoy Love, Simon. Yes, I have seen some coverage online saying that Love, Simon can only be appreciated by an LGBT+ audience which is completely ridiculous, that's like saying The Shape of Water can only be appreciated by people with a fish fetish, that logic just doesn't make sense to me. I can't discuss too many details about the plot because it does centre around a mystery as to who Simons love interest is (the twist is great I did not see it coming!) but if I had to discuss without spoilers I would say Love, Simon is a great coming of age film that inspires people to be bold, to take a chance, and to love every part of themselves even if its hard sometimes. I can see this film becoming an iconic "sleepover movie" up there with Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, Grease and Pretty In Pink (It's THAT good).

The cast of the film do a fantastic job of portraying the very sophisticated plot, in fact I bet the lead actors agent will be receiving lots of calls in the coming weeks to sign Nick Robinson (Simon) onto more projects following his amazing and nuanced performance, this movie showed me that he is capable of superstar staus. Other standouts include 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford (Leah), The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale (Bram) and X-Men's Alexandra Shipp (Abby) redeeming herself from her performance as Storm in the latest film in that franchise. Jennifer Garner does a fabulous job as Simon's mother Emily and reminds everyone of why she became a star in the first place with an amazing speech given towards the end of the movie, it was such a powerful moment it actually bought tears to my eyes.

Love, Simon is an amazing film and I encourage everyone to go and see it as soon as you can at the movie theatre. You will enjoy the film more with others so take someone with you such as your mum she will absolutely adore it alternatively get in the spirit of the film, be bold and ask someone you fancy to go and see it with you, who knows you may get your very own love story.
