Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Sean S — 08 Jun 2018
Love story is fine, but this is trying on my impatience with the worst cliches and god awful dumb-ass characters. A fugly Vice Principal who talks to his students about tinder, slow-witted dad who thinks Grindr is Facebook for gays, and the main characters, falling in love with a corny moniker blue who turns out to be a black Jewish jock.
And Ebert gave this a 4.5*? If you want some realness about coming of age, watch the French Raw or Blue is the Warmest Color. No wonder American cinema is shit. Oh, and the music sucks, too.
