This story relies on an excellent performance by hoffman and he delivers. a man is shattered by his wife's suicide. he decides to escape reality by huffing gas leading him down a dark and disturbing path.
all the while those around him are trying to get him back on track to no avail. great character study about a tragedy and the subsequent drive to escape the pain. the ambiguity of the ending is rare and rewarding in films these days.
