Review of Love Is Strange (2014) by Peter F — 24 Aug 2014
Ira Sachs' follow-up to Keep the Lights On is a more mature and convivial piece of queer cinema, and not just because it looks at an older age-group. While the film is certainly elegant due to the endearing chemistry of John Lithgow and Alfred Molina's lovers, the film also has some great commentary about the difficulties that arise in find affordable living in contemporary New York, particularly for those who have already lived here for a long time.
The story is a bit familiar in other areas, but this is an ideal date movie to catch at the summer's end, no matter what your sexuality is.
