Review of Love Is Strange (2014) by Calvin C — 31 Aug 2014
A subtle love story about an old gay couple who recently marry, only for one of them to lose their job because of it. This forces them to move out of their apartment and find a new place to live. It is a story that could have been told with any type of couple. The performances from John Lithgow and Alfred Molina are amazing and natural and the film itself is low-key and intimate. There are some story threads that are never fully explained or solved, but the performances of the two leads make up for it.
Grade: A-.
