Review of Love in the Time of Cholera (2007) by Caroline U — 16 Jul 2008
Having read the book a few years ago I don't remember all the details but the film seemed to resume the story pretty well, in a way I was surprised since I expected an adaptation of such a wonderful book to be pretty weak, but the film did set me back to the book, specially because of Javier Barden, who is not only awkwardly attractive as I always imagined Florentino Ariza, but what a fantastic actor.
The rest of the cast were only ok, if only they could have cast as well as they casted Javier - sometimes it felt like it was a play and not a film production because the performances just didn't seem real.
I also think it would be much better if the film was in spanish and not english, but oh well, it really surpassed my expectations.
