I looked at this movie as if I had no read the book. Truly a Latin romance! It captured that latin passion - it felt like this movie tried to stay true to its latin roots which made it authentic. John Leguizamo was ideal as the father - something about the humour in being an ass?
I don't think people used to American cinema would enjoy the style of this movie.
