Review of Love in the Time of Cholera (2007) by Marie-Anne W — 09 Jun 2009
I never got around to reading the book but I gave in and decided to just watch the movie. it has javier bardem in it so it can't possible be that bad right?
Completely wrong. the story itself was romantic -- the idea of waiting to be with someone you love for 50 years is a beautiful fairytale, the scenery and costumes were beautiful, even the music was great. the acting not so much. it was hard to get past javier bardem's portrayal of a man in love with a women when he's acting like a freakin' creeper! what could have been so romantic ends up looking like a man stalking this poor woman for 50+ years -- oh but wait -- and him being in love with her and pledging his fidelity while whoring around with over 600 women. I don't think so.
Maybe I should sit and watch it again. maybe it's one of those movies I need to watch more than once to understand.
I think i'll wait a while to get that second turn.
