Review of Love in the Time of Cholera (2007) by Juan B — 24 Dec 2009
I haven't read the book, which is probably a form of sacrilege since I'm a writer myself. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this movie. I thought Bratt and Leguizamo were miscast but Bardem is the one who makes the movie.
Everyone else, the pace of the film, etc would probably garner it only 3 stars. Bardem though is so good that you really feel his desire, his sadness, his madness. He was fantastically creepy in "No Country for Old Men," hilarious and charming in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and brilliantly tormented in this film.
Truly, one of the best actors of our time.
