Review of Love & Pop (1998) by Pedro D — 24 Mar 2008
Hideaki Anno live-action début does a great job transforming what would just be a film about bored schoolgirls trying to figure out what to do with the rest of their lives into something much more interesting.
It's rather disturbing to think what some schoolgirls would bear just to earn some extra cash, such as going out with middle-aged perverts and stalkers they meet in the street or through mobile phone dating services.
Of course, Hideaki Anno's visual trademarks (filmed in mini-digital camcorders) and recurring themes are all present.
