Review of Love & Other Drugs (2010) by Karine C — 24 Jul 2011
An OK movie that is harmed by its schizophrenic inability to harmonize its screw-ball comedic side with the seriousness of dealing with an illness like Parkinson's disease. If I had to deal with something like that, comic relief would certainly be an important coping mechanism.
But there has got to be better ways to put the two together than simply juxtaposing scenes of utter silliness between Gyllenhaal and his brother and ones of dead seriousness between Gyllenhaal and Hathaway.
Haven't seen this much skin in a top of the line movie since the 70's. Hathaway's is really nice.
