Review of Love & Other Drugs (2010) by Jessica B — 21 Nov 2011
Somewhere around Prince of Persia, Jake went from cute to downright smoking. But that's beside the point. Love and Other Drugs had a hard time deciding what it wanted to be. It had elements of a standard book to movie adaptation (based on The Hard Sell), it was heading towards a poignant romance slash dramedy about dealing with illness in the one you want to love, but ultimately it fell in to the snares of a rom com.
So, if it is a rom com, it's a damn good one and barring it's indecisiveness it was borderline brilliant. The acting was absolutely superb and the chemistry between Jake and Anne was (ahem) scalding. Really they should have called this Sex and Other Drugs, but seeing as that meant lots of Jake, sooooo not complaining.
I loved this movie, it had everything I wanted to see, made me feel what I wanted to feel and I will have no problem watching it over and over again.
