Review of Love & Other Drugs (2010) by The3Academysins — 30 Aug 2019
Incredibly underwhelming. The movie starts off strong, but overstays its welcome. It's not funny, and for the most part, the viagra and parkinsons backdrop is ignored by the script save as a quirky plot device.
The most baffling thing about this movie is that the cast is incredible. Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhall are incredible, and really mine what humanity they can out of this hackjob of a script. The sound track is also pretty decent.
The problem is that the script and direction are so sub par, and even the cliche, formulaic, romantic comedy beats feel like an after thought. This movie is the definition of "missed potential.
