Review of Love & Mercy (2015) by Richard Y — 20 Sep 2015
Although I'm strictly more of a Beatles' fan than that of The Beach Boys but for sure there have been some great landmark numbers by them from the brilliant mind of Brian Wilson. This highly acclaimed film I must agree is very well made, cleverly filmed and supremely performed especially from Paul Dano who portrayed BW in the 60s up to the completion of the Pet Sounds album when he had his psychotic break and John Cusack plays him in the 80s when he met his second wife who single-handedly cured him.
The director constantly switches the time zones back and forth thus making it much more interesting to view especially with the famous Beach Boys songs interspersed between the flashes. A must-see for all Beach Boys fans, even if you're not, the songs alone will move you.
